Drake. Oh Drake. He will turn 12 this September. He had a vet visit a few months ago so we could get a refill for his steroids (for allergies). The vet said that his blood work looks so good - better than it has in a long time! He is defying the odds this dog. I remember about 5 or so years ago calling my sister Rachel and just sobbing uncontrollably. The vet had told me that with being on steroids, we were taking years off of his life. I wasn't sure we were doing the right thing. We wanted him to be comfortable, but at the expense of his own life?? And look at him now - 11 1/2 years old!! Don't get me wrong, a part of me is ready for new flooring, going on vacation and not having anxiety attacks about leaving him and sleeping through the night without having to let him out would be nice. But ultimately, I'm just happy my buddy is doing so well!! He has also lost 10 pounds!! I wonder how that happened - between treats all day, Brady feeding him and very few walks during the winter, he should have gained 10 pounds. :) The vet didn't say anything about it though, so he must be OK! Drake is definitely aging though. He's tripped a few times during the night going down the stairs, so I always leave the stair lights on at night. He has also recently been "getting stuck" in our closet. He doesn't handle the non-carpeted floors very well anymore and for some reason the turn from the closet to the bathroom floor gets him. He starts barking from the closet, tries to get to the bathroom rug and then really just ends up "going for it". I feel sorry for him.
Brady. Oh Brady. Brady is really growing - especially physically!! I noticed his pj's are getting tight, his pants and shirt sleeves are getting short and we went up to size 6 in diapers. :( Where did my baby go?? He is also starting to copy words and they actually sound like words! He can copy the ABC's (for the most part), he likes to sing along (kind of) to songs he knows and the other day he picked up the other pink colored pencil and said "2 pinks!!" What a proud moment for this mama. I think he is just full of information - he's just waiting to be able to verbally express it!!
And here are some pics!
Brady loves his Great Grandma (and not just because she feeds him sweets!!)
Great Grandma loves her Brady too :)
We like to hang out at the library!
Pushups off the couch!! Notice the trucks in each hand? Oh yah, and he didn't actually do pushups, just copied the pose...
Muddy paw prints. I dislike rainy weather because of this!
Monkey Joes - our first time! Completely overwhelming and tiring, and for being such an overprotective mother, I was proud of myself for taking him here.
