I was Jillian Michael'd last night...

There are some things I really can't wait for:

1. To wear my wedding ring again.  It's been over 2 years.
2. To put my jeans on and not having to squeeze into them.
3. To actually buy some of those cute workout clothes.

But yesterday I fessed up to my coach how frustrated I was with my weight loss.  I always just think 'it's just the way my body is'.  My coach has not been very communicative, but when I received her email last night, I felt like I was in the Biggest Loser gym and had Jillian Michaels in my face.  I literally had to own up to all my excuses and realize that everything she was saying was completely true.  Whether or not I was embarrassed, they were true.  Yes I'm pushing myself, but I could push myself more.  Yes I'm making better choices, but not like I need too.  My body needs to reset itself with apparently a week of 100% clean eating.  I broke down, completely, and felt like my eyes were opened.  Thankfully Chris sat there and listened to me cry for awhile so I could just get it all out.

Today, I'm going to take one meal/section of the day at a time instead of thinking of the whole day.  I need to get to the grocery store, but really don't want to be on the roads this morning, so I'm trying to make it work.  A big hurdle will be getting over the idea that food comforts me.  Especially after long days or on weekends.  I guess I thought I was all in, but apparently I wasn't.  :)  Here goes.....

Week 3 Update

So, I had myself a little pity party almost all week.  I weighed myself this morning and I ended the week up 1 pound.  So, I'm still down three and I have to remind myself that at least I'm losing, but I allowed it to be a black cloud over my head this week.  I do appreciate all the encouragement I'm getting - it really does mean a lot to me!!

I still love the workouts.  Love Love Love.  I missed Friday's workout because of the billion excuses I came up with (including Brady being sick), but as the morning went on, I realized I mentally should have just got up and gone.  Lesson learned.  I kicked the bag's butt today!!

I tried another new recipe this week:  homemade turkey balls (a recipe from my coach).  Not really sure what I thought of them, but they are supposed to be a good protein source so I'll learn to like them.  I've also been adding my whey strawberry flavored protein powder to my yogurt.  Makes a big (and yummy) difference!!

There is nothing better than cuddling with your doggy when you aren't feeling well (except for cuddling with mommy)

A little frustrated

I'm a little frustrated this week, although this is what happened in the middle of the week last week too.  I weighed myself yesterday (and again today because I'm freaking out), and I have fluctuated up 2 pounds.  I get the whole muscle weighs more, blah blah blah.  I'm frustrated because I am working out harder than I ever have, more days then I ever have, early in the morning which is supposed to be great for your metabolism too.  I'm making better food choices, eating way less, and yes, I am not a perfect eater, but shouldn't the combination of the above make the weight just start to come off more quickly??  I need to stay focused, but it's really hard not to dwell and freak out.

And here are a few more pictures of Brady.  We had an awesome moment yesterday - he went potty in his potty chair!!!

This is where he originally decided he wanted to sit on his potty chair.  He usually just uses it as a step stool to reach the sink in the bathroom, so at least he was sitting on it for once.  It was just not where I expected to find him.  :)

His 'latest and greatest' new idea: move the chairs to the CD player and try to put on the music.  It's pretty cute until last night I discovered this also relates to moving the kitchen chair up to the bar so he can reach whatever is on the bar.  He is growing up way too fast!!!

Week 2 in the books

Goals update for week 2:

* My body was definitely more tired the 2nd week.  On Wednesday, my legs felt like lead.
* I had a headache from Wednesday through Friday and I actually missed class on Thursday morning because of it.  I didn't feel guilty since I didn't feel well, but I was ready to get in there again on Friday.
* I allowed myself to snack more.  I came up with excuses to make it ok.  This is not ok and I will do better this week!
* I did try a new recipe each week.  The first one was from the manual they gave us.  The smoke detector went off like 5x during that episode.  I think I'll wait until I can grill the steak.  :)  Last week we tried ground turkey for the first time.  I mixed it in with the lean ground beef for spaghetti.  It wasn't bad.  Probably an acquired taste!
* I still feel fantastic.  I actually caught myself thinking 'I don't even care if I don't lose weight I just feel so good'.  Clearly I need to lose weight, but I love how wonderful and strong I feel.
* Although I do feel great, I do try and nap.  I feel like I need it.  So on my days off and weekends, I lay down when Brady does.  That's used to be the time I would clean, etc, so I feel like I am getting behind on things, but I do need my sleep!
* My alarm starts going off at 4, then my phone alarm goes off at 4:05am, and I have been hitting snooze, so lately I've been getting up a little later (4:15) and not getting to class until 4:45.
* Stats: my coach checked my weight and body fat comp today.  I am down 4 pounds and for body fat, I am down almost 1 point.  She said that goes down slower, but since it's outrageously high, I want to see that go down fast.  :)

Here are a few pictures:

Pictures!!

I figured out a work around for pictures - it's annoying!!

An evening snooze on the couch after a day with no nap...

Drake likes to nap too...

I'm not the only one who likes my boxing gloves!!

Going "night night" on the couch.  :)

Posing for a picture so G Mart could see him in his new hat!

His choice of breakfast utensils can be interesting at times..

No pictures

I am frustrated with this blog!  Now it's not even giving me the option to upload photos.  I have some pictures of Brady I want to post so I need to figure this out.   Again....

Goals update!!!:

* I feel fantastic.  It's so amazing to me that I spent all those years working out and being frustrated, and after one week at Goals, I feel so incredibly healthy, happy and positive.
* I do not feel exhausted like I thought I would.  I did take a nap on Thursday and a good one on Sunday though.  But, I do make it through the days ok!
* I've FINALLY realized that I need to view myself "as is", not as who I used to be.
* Although I love the workouts, I need to remember my primary goal is to re-learn how to eat.  The right way, the right foods in the right combinations.
* BE INTENTIONAL.  The series right now in church is called All In.  The pastor said that we need to be intentional in our actions.  This phrase has stuck, and at 4:25 in the morning as I'm driving, I'm cold and I'm tired, I think - 'your being intentional Heidi'.  Yay me.  :)
* Oh yes, the best part.  Although I had to weigh myself on the other scale today (they recommend using the same one), I am down not only the two pounds I fluctuated up to in the beginning, but two more.  Woohoo!!!

Goals Update

I know it's still the first week, but I am still so excited about my workouts now!  It feels so good to love working out again!
* I am still one of the first ones there every morning (well, I've only done it four mornings so far, but still, that's pretty good for me)!  I'm up at 4:05 in the morning!  By the way, there has to be over 60 people in class, so I think that's pretty good!
* I have already found my 'spot' to workout.  I picked out a spot and the girl next to me was so friendly and helpful, and I really appreciated it, so I'm staying put.  And the group around me is fantastic.  This morning, we spent time chatting before class and I got to know them a little bit more.  And they are great about giving me pointers during the workouts.
* Kickboxing is awesome!  The instructor asked if anyone hasn't done kickboxing and I was one of the two people (out of around 60) who raised their hand.  I'm not shy - I needed help!  I'm finding out a lot of people have already done Farrells and switched over to Goals in Motion.
* My heart rate up jumps up during warm ups already!  I checked my Bodybugg yesterday and during my workout I was at times burning 6 calories a minute! Wednesday was the hardest workout yet - lower body resistance training.  IT KICKED MY BUTT - LITERALLY.
* I am still struggling with carbs/sugar craving and carbs in my meals at night.  It's only day #4 though, and I can only focus on a few things at once, so once I get my early day under control, I'll focus solely on dinner.  I am going to try one or two new recipes a week.
* I have spent a TON of money on groceries, but I'll figure it out.  I figured that would happen in the beginning.
* I made the mistake of weighing myself this morning and I was up two pounds.  It was stupid because I know my body is adjusting to new foods and workouts and I am drinking a lot of water.  Still, it's almost heart stopping to see the scale go up.  I hate, and I mean hate that.
* I'm addicted to this already.  It could be the adrenaline rush of something new, but it's all I think about and talk about.  And it's a great feeling to have my workout over with by 6am every morning!

Goals In Motion

I was not sure I would blog about my experience at Goals In Motion and I'm certainly not ready to make my stats public (such as body weight, comp, etc), but today was my first 5am work out and I just have to talk about it!  I loved it.  I had my heart rate up in the warm up already.  I will be working a lot harder here than on my own!  People were so incredibly friendly.  Love it!!  Class starts at 5, but I heard people start showing up at 4:30 to get "their" spot.

The funniest part?  I was the first one in the parking lot.  Me. At 4:30am.  Can you tell I am excited?  It didn't hurt that Drake got me up at 3:30 so I had been awake for awhile.

The most impressive part?  The owner remembered my name.  I love that.

The best part?  Feeling the "high" after a workout again.  I'm hooked.

The scariest part?  Having to eat what I told my team leader I would eat today.  I'm pretty much used to grazing on whatever I want all day.

Time to put on the boxing gloves tomorrow!!!  (I have a feeling I'll be more sore and tired as the week goes on, but that's ok!).

A New Year!!

Happy New Year!!  I told Brady yesterday that we have a whole year to make it what we want it to be.  And I have nothing but good feelings for this year!!

Our life is changing LOTS this month.  I'll be starting the 9 week challenge at Goals In Motion.  Of course, the overall goal is to get healthy.  However, my personal goal is to relearn how to eat and about nutrition.  I'm looking forward too and most scared of the big change that the nutrition portion will bring to our lives!  I'm pumped though - can't wait for some kick butt workouts!!  Hello 5:15am workouts!!  I am also babysitting three days a week and Brady is signed up for art class and Waterbabies II on our days off.  And to top off our busy schedule, I signed up for a class at church on Wednesday nights.  We will be busy!!

I always try to set a New Year's resolution.  I felt I did pretty good on the positive thoughts every day last year, but the pop goal didn't really work.  I'm sure going to Goals will help with that.  :)  THIS YEAR, I have decided that my resolution will be to celebrate things.  Chris and I never celebrate our birthdays, anniversary, Valentine's Day, etc.  This year we will make every one important, even if it means we have to find a babysitter.  I'm looking forward to this - should be fun!!
