Pictures

Playing tug-of-war with our house guest last week.

Vacation time with daddy!!  Hello Table Rock Lake!!

Giving dad an ornery look.

Love this face!!

Vacation is tiring!!  He was out within 3 minutes.  Look at those dirty feet!

What he was supposed to be doing on the couch while he was eating his snack..  Sitting DOWN...

What I often found him doing.  Standing up!!

We were often on the phone...

And here we go - running across the couch again!!

Brady's first time on the boat!

Vacation Bible School

I am volunteering at our church's VBS this week.  What a chaotic, tiring and AMAZING experience this has been!!  Although this sounds cheesy, I really felt like I was "called" to do this.  I usually get nervous trying these new experiences, but not so much this time.  I know this is something that I will make a priority to participate in every year!  Just maybe not the preschool - age kids.  Jeez - talk about lots of little people full of energy!!

I feel myself changing.  Years ago, prior to Brady and all those issues, I had a moment.  A personal moment in which I never want to talk about in detail, but just when I needed him the most, God was there for me.  I knew right then and there that I would always choose to follow God as my Father and Jesus as my Savior.  My life would reflect the saying 'Faith Family Friends'.  Slowly over the years, I have wanted to learn more about my Faith and WANTED it to be a priority in my life.  Lately, I have been wondering if I have missed my calling in life.  I feel like there is so much more I could be doing to help others.  And I really admire the energy and faith that the student ministers and leaders have.  They are phenomenal and nothing that I was able to experience growing up.  It makes me super excited to think about the experiences Brady will hopefully get to experience at our church as he grows up!!!

But anyways - back to finding your calling in life.  This series, we have learned that our lives have an upper and lower story.  The upper story is God's plan for your life.  The lower story is your day to day life.  You may have struggles and unhappiness in your day to day life and wonder why God lets these things happen, but God is picking pieces of your lower story and placing them in his upper story for your life.  God is always at work in my life.  I know this.  So tonight.......  it felt as if things were working together towards my upper story.....  Our church supports Restoring Hope International (and orphanage created to provide homes and education to 13 children right now).  Two of their workers came to talk about why the kids were raising money through VBS.  As it turns out, he grew up in Carroll and we were neighbors with his cousins.  We recognized each other!!  To say this experience was amazing was an understatement.  To hear about this safe home/school/care they are providing to these children, to know that they picked up and moved to Africa to serve this need, to know him, to hear their enthusiasm.  It was truly powerful and here is what I am feeling - I felt "called" to help teach VBS.  This "calling" put me at my church during a time where these speakers were there.  Let alone someone from my home town.  Something is working here.  I don't know what it is, but I can feel it.  It could be something as simple as I have finally found an organization that I can focus on.  Whatever it was, I was meant to be at VBS to be there for their presentation.  Wow.....

18 Months

My baby turned 18 months on June 10th.  Seriously, he will always be my baby, but he's a little boy now, not a baby!!  Where does time go?  What happened to all those moments that I told myself I would never forget - like the sound of his breathing, the snuggling, the silly faces and funny things that he did?  I look back and it's almost just a blur.  Not fair!!!

Here are his stats from his checkup.  He has grown a lot since his last checkup!!

Height: 33" (70th percentile)
Weight: 26 1/2 lbs (80th percentile)
Head Cir:: 19" (75th percentile)

Moments I Love

I love the little things about being a mom.

* Hearing his footsteps running across the kitchen floor.
* Dancing in the kitchen to his music.  He usually wants me to hold him while we dance. :)
* Listening to his squeals when he is playing with the sprinkler or when I am chasing him.
* Listening to his babble over the monitor every time he wakes up.
* Watching him play peek-a-boo with his bath towel while he's laying on his changing table.  It's really funny because it feels like a whole minute before he lowers the towel to see me.
* Listening to his giggles as the neighbor girls push him really fast up and down the sidewalk.
* Feeling his warm body when he's sleeping on me in the rocker.
* Him wanting Me.
* The look on his face when he sees something he knows is usually out of reach and then he looks at me to see if I'm watching.
* Cuddling on the couch watching cartoons in the morning after he wakes up or after his afternoon naps.
