Leo turned ONE today! We bought him two new toys that he absolutely destroyed within 20 minutes and some dog/frosted cookie treats from Hy-Vee. I think he had a good day! This picture was from a a few months ago, but it's still my favorite.

What a year it's been. His personality has developed and aside from jumping/walking training issues, he has really settled down. He went from being a complete terrorist destroying anything that caught his attention to trying to literally be on us for cuddle time. He has no concept of personal space. :) He is a sweet and sensitive and cuddly dog. He LOVES being outside. He is out there all the time just messing around, chasing squirrels and birds, trying to bug the neighbors cat on one side or the three little dogs on the other side of our yard or sometimes he prefers to just chill out and lay around. Three walks a day seems to still be the magical number and now that the weather is getting better, I'm anxious to get back to that. He's a lot calmer with all that energy out of his system. He is an excellent guard dog and barks at anything that sounds unusual in the house. He paces the garage door from about 3:30 on waiting for Chris to come home. He is vocal, it's crazy to me because I've never experienced a dog sounding like he's trying to talk to me! And it's all when he wants attention. He will jump all over you if you come into our house and he will not settle down - no matter how long you are there (annoying - I need to work on that with him!). He loves his kennel which has been tremendous (that's another thing I wish we would have tried with Drake). I never have to worry about what he's up to when we are gone. He willing goes in there during the day on his own for naps. It's great! He is incredibly handsome - we fall in love with him every day (and he makes me want to scream and pull my hair out every day too :)). Brady ADORES him and is super protective of him. He calls Leo his "main man #1 (Chris is his "main man #2). He gives that dog kisses and hugs like they are going out of style!
He's also been diagnosed as having epilepsy. He's had four seizures so far - two of them within five hours (a few days ago). It's so hard to watch his body not functioning correctly. It makes me love and protect him even more. I found out the breeders had to put his dad to sleep because of seizures (age 6). It made me sad. I'm hoping for many more happy birthdays with Leo!!
